About Consumer Tech Wire

Independent reporting and reviews on the consumer technology people actually use. Founded 2022.

Consumer Tech Wire is an independent, reader-supported publication covering the consumer technology people actually use: the apps on their phones, the AI tools they depend on, the devices in their homes, the platforms that handle their data, and the productivity software that gets them through the day.

The publication was founded in March 2022 by Helena Rosenberg-Vance, a former Reuters consumer-tech desk reporter, on the editorial premise that the consumer-tech beat had drifted toward affiliate-driven product roundups and hands-off device-launch coverage, and that the category needed a publication built on wire-service sourcing standards.

Our mission

Consumer Tech Wire reports on consumer technology with the same sourcing standards a wire service brings to any beat: independent verification, named human sources where possible, documented testing methodology where claims are quantitative, and a clear line between news reporting and analysis. We do not accept sponsored placements, affiliate compensation, or paid product roundups. Our income is reader-supported.

What we cover

We cover five verticals:

  • Health Tech — calorie tracking, GLP-1 telehealth, continuous glucose monitoring, sleep, fertility, recovery, digital therapeutics.
  • AI Tools — consumer-facing generative AI, AI photo and image tools, AI productivity assistants, on-device AI features.
  • Privacy & Security — consumer privacy, app data practices, breaches, encryption, FTC privacy actions.
  • Smart Home — Matter, Thread, voice assistants, security cameras, smart locks, energy monitoring.
  • Productivity — note-taking, calendars, task managers, AI assistants, workflow tooling.

How we are funded

Consumer Tech Wire is reader-supported. We do not maintain affiliate accounts with any product reviewed in our pages. We do not accept sponsored placements or paid product roundups. We do not take honoraria, advisory fees, or industry-funded continuing education credit related to consumer technology. Our editorial staff hold no equity in publicly traded technology companies beyond passive index-fund exposure.

Masthead
