About Helena Rosenberg-Vance
Helena Rosenberg-Vance founded Consumer Tech Wire in March 2022 with a stated editorial mission: cover consumer technology with wire-service sourcing standards rather than affiliate-driven product-roundup conventions. She had spent the prior decade as a desk reporter and editor at Reuters and Bloomberg, covering the consumer-electronics industry through the post-iPhone, App Store-era arc, and her view was that the category most consumers actually used daily — the apps on their phones, the devices in their homes, the AI tools they were beginning to depend on — had become the least seriously covered sector in technology journalism.
Background
Helena began her career as a stringer for The Wall Street Journal’s CIO Network, covering enterprise IT, before joining Bloomberg’s New York technology desk in 2009. She moved to Reuters in 2013 to take a senior reporter slot on the U.S. consumer-electronics file, and was promoted to deputy bureau chief for the Reuters consumer-tech desk in 2017. At Reuters she ran coverage on Apple’s supply chain, the FTC’s actions against connected-device manufacturers, the early Amazon Echo privacy fights, and the first wave of major AI-product launches.
She left Reuters in early 2022 to found Consumer Tech Wire.
Editorial focus
Helena owns the editorial line and the corrections process. She signs off on every published score and every ranked list. She is the editor of record on flagship health-tech and AI tools packages, and she personally writes the publication’s lede stories on FTC actions, major-product launches, and the reporting around AI safety incidents. She edits the analysis section in close partnership with Ronan Whitfield-Asari.
Conflicts of interest
Helena has no financial relationships with consumer-tech companies covered on this site. She does not hold equity in, accept honoraria from, or serve on the advisory board of any company reviewed in Consumer Tech Wire. She holds no positions in publicly traded technology companies beyond passive index-fund exposure. She maintains no affiliate accounts and the publication does not participate in affiliate programs with any reviewed product. Her income is derived from this publication and a contractually unrelated weekly Substack column on FTC enforcement.
